# Chicago Advocate Legal, NFP
 
> Chicago Advocate Legal, NFP (CAL) is a nonprofit law firm serving Chicago's diverse communities with accessible, income-based legal representation in family law, housing law, and preventive law, with a strong emphasis on preventing negative court involvement before it starts.
 
CAL was founded in 2015 by Chlece Walker-Neal-Murray, JD, MSW, MS, to close the gap in legal services for low- and middle-income clients who don't qualify for free legal aid but can't afford traditional private representation. The firm pairs legal advocacy with social work and psychoeducation, and offers sliding-scale fees for individuals between 0% and 400% of the federal poverty line.
