Chicago’s
Nonprofit
Law Firm.
Chicago Advocate Legal, NFP (CAL) empowers individuals and families within Chicago’s diverse communities by providing accessible, compassionate, and effective legal advocacy, with a strong emphasis on preventative solutions and conflict resolution. We are a trusted resource, fostering informed decision-making and promoting positive legal outcomes.
Preventative Law
Initiative
CAL’s Preventative Law Intiative (PLI) seeks to solve the root problems that lead to a family filing a case in court. PLI’s goal is to prevent or mitigate negative involvement with Cook County’s family courts through the widespread use of conflict resolution skills and legal knowledge in the form of workshops, clinics and psychoeducation group work primarily especially in low-income communities and communities of color. It is also designed to advance interpersonal relationship skills while empowering individuals to make positive and informed decisions to avoid legal problems.
Guardian ad Litem and Child Representative Program
When families go through court cases about custody, parenting time, or safety, the judge might need extra help to understand what is best for the child.
That is where we come in.
We have specially trained attorneys who serve in two independent roles: Guardian Ad Litem or Child's Representative.
